Aces Only Association, Week 2 Afterword

Welcome back! Sunday night’s incredible series finale between the Padres and Dodgers closed an exciting second week of competition in our new fantasy baseball league. style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> Six of our eight teams once again topped 100 points. Alex Mayo and Sean Kennedy were the only two to fall below that mark and that was at least partly because both of them used just four of their seven allotted pitcher starts. They each received 25.1 innings of work from their pitching staff in Week 2 while every other manager got at least 40 innings of work.   Playing in a daily league is a lot of fun but it’s also proved to be quite a bit of work to make sure you track scheduled starts for your pitchers and remember to switch players out, especially when you only get four bench spots to work with.   Cory Puffett had a strong first week but his second was even better as he set a new scoring record in the AOA with 154.75 points. Welcome to a new fantasy league with all three hosts of The Sportsballers participating along with several friends of the show. style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> It’s been a long time since we’ve given fantasy baseball a go but we’re excited to branch out from football to add a second fantasy league for all of us to compete in. We did not use the first week and a half of the baseball season this year because we wanted to keep every matchup to 7 days, though are likely going to change that for next year. In any case, we just wrapped up our first week of competition and it was an exciting one.   All eight teams reached triple digits and it will be fun to watch this season progress to find out just how significant that milestone is. Eric Meyer led us with 147 points to claim our first Rickey Henderson Award, given weekly to the league’s highest scorer.   As we do in A Football Life, we also designate one game each week as the Game of the Week.   For our inaugu...
