After two mediocre weeks to start the season, I finally broke through in Week 3 while on vacation in Maui, scoring a perfect week. I guess you could say I was Hawaii 5-0 (sorry, had to do it). We've had some shakeups at the quarterback position over the last few days, which always makes for interesting lines. Here's what I have for Week 4.
Cincinnati +5 over Atlanta
The Bengals have enough talent on both sides of the ball to make Atlanta's day difficult. They won't have the Saints' explosive attack, but they also won't let Calvin Ridley torch them all afternoon. Cincinnati and the Falcons are more or less on equal footing, and a 5 point spread implies that Atlanta is a decisively better team. I'm not feeling that. The Bengals at least keep this one close.
Dallas -3 over Detroit
The Lions seem to be getting some undue attention due to their shellacking of the Patriots on Sunday night, but I haven't forgotten their previous struggles. The Cowboys aren't much to write home about either, but they've got some dudes in their front seven and I like their chances of moving the football against a leaky Detroit defense.
Seattle -3 over Arizona
Arizona's offense may improve with Josh Rosen at the helm given Sam Bradford's career-long battle with ineptitude, but he's a rookie QB who is going to make mistakes. Seattle still has enough play-makers to make Rosen's first start a nightmare, and Seattle's offense seems to have found some rhythm. I like the Hawks pretty comfortably in this one.
San Francisco +10.5 over Los Angeles Chargers
This line is certainly a product of Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending knee injury, which is why it's a juicy opportunity. I think CJ Beathard can play a little bit, especially with Kyle Shanahan calling the shots. There are too many avenues to victory for me not to take these points. The Chargers will win, but it's not going to be easy. Give me the 49ers through the back door.
New Orleans -3 over New York Giants
For the second straight week, the Saints are being undersold as a road team. The Giants defense has hardly been a wall despite playing three struggling offenses, and the Saints are the opposite of that. While New Orleans has been a sieve on defense, the Giants offense doesn't have enough punch to keep up with Drew Brees and company in a shootout. I'll lay the three points.
Week 3: 5-0 (+4.55 units)
2018 Season: 9-6 (+2.28 units)
