Eric's Week 8 Winners

"Never leave the table on a heater."  We'll see how that sage advice works out for me.  After a slow start, I've been dominating The Sportsballers Pick'em contest among my fellow co-hosts over the last few weeks, and winners have been equally fruitful after putting together another flawless string of bets.  Something tells me I should quit while I'm ahead, but that's no fun.  Let's finish out the first half of the season strong.

No fancy stuff this week, just five bets against the spread.  Here we go.

Miami +7.5 over Houston

The Texans are 2-5 ATS, including 0-4 ATS in home games.  They're impressively overrated and have been for a long time.  The Texans should be able to win this game, but by more than a TD?  Nope, nope, nope.  Take the points.

Washington -1 over NY Giants

As a Redskins fan, I should probably know better than to put money on them to beat the Giants, especially at MetLife Stadium.  That being said, the Giants have started their "Eat Dirt for Herbert" campaign and have started trading off key defensive players after a dismal 1-6 start to their season.  The Redskins are trying to maintain their hold atop the NFC East while the already terrible Giants have made it clear that they're ready to tank.  Washington wins on the road.  HTTR.

Seattle +3 over Detroit

As I said on the Sportsballers podcast this week, I'm low-key digging Seattle right now.  After an ugly start with road losses to Denver and Chicago, the Seahawks have righted their ship and are playing good football.  After a surprisingly competitive affair with the Rams, the Hawks crushed the Raiders and went into their bye with some momentum.  While Detroit isn't an awful team, I feel like they're fit for a 6-10 record.  The Seahawks have more of a 9-7 vibe to me.  I like them to win the game outright, so the three points are just added value.

Carolina +2 over Baltimore

The Panthers are a 4-2 home dog.  That's either some major shade being thrown at Carolina or a lot of love for the visiting Ravens.  Either way, I like Cam and company to pull this upset.  While the Ravens defense is fierce, their secondary is a bit of a question mark, especially with Jimmy Smith deciding to dress up as a piece of toast for Halloween.  Newton won't chop up a defense like Drew Brees, but he's played better than his standard from the pocket, which will open things up for Carolina and allow them to stay on the field and score some touchdowns.  That should be enough for the Panthers to come away with a with the way they can play defense.

Oakland +3 over Indianapolis

I must be losing my damn mind.  The Raiders are also eating dirt for Herbert.  Literally.  They play football on a baseball diamond.  They traded Amari Cooper this week and are as dysfunctional as ever.  How could I possibly pick them?  Well, they're at home and the Colts are trash.  Throw in the "Derek Carr cried so nobody likes him anymore" nonsense and you've got a perfect storm brewing for Oakland to come out and surprise some fools.  Hell with it.  Give me those points.

Week 7: 3-0 (+4.52 units)

Overall: 19-11-1 (+10.79 units)
