Eric's Week 11 Winners

The train keeps on rolling in what seems to be my greatest football season ever.  I'm killing it in the straight-up picks, my fantasy team is dominant, and I'm raking in the cash hand over fist.  That means I'll probably end up blowing all of my winnings and my fantasy team will get bounced in the first round, but for now, I'm having fun.  Let's have some more fun together.  Here are your Week 11 winners.

Houston -2.5 over Washington

I can't believe I was able to snag this game at under three points, but here we are.  The Redskins are fake news.  They might win the NFC East by default, but that doesn't make them good.  The Texans' pass rush is going to kill Alex Smith.  He won't move the football at all and may even turn it over a couple times on strip sacks.  Josh Norman can expect the boo birds to be out in force this Sunday.  Houston wins this one going away.

Carolina -3.5 over Detroit

The Lions are tanking.  They traded away their best receiver and have looked, to put it mildly, anemic on offense since that point.  Meanwhile, Carolina is coming off a severe ass-kicking at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they've had 10 days off and are still a playoff team.  They should have no trouble taking care of Detroit as a road favorite.

Denver +7 over LA Chargers

I'm not too high on Denver, but they have the ability to keep games close because of the way they run the ball and play defense.  I'm certainly not expecting them to pull this win out, but a touchdown in a division game is a lot to lay for the Chargers, who frequently muck it up with teams like the Broncos and keep the games closer than they should be.  Factor in the Chargers' distinct lack of a home field advantage and I'm willing to take Denver and the seven points.

Kansas City ML +150 over LA Rams (Spread is KC +3.5)

I actually ended up betting this game on the money-line AND against the spread because I'm an idiot and struggle with basic smartphone usage, but my original intent was to bet this game straight up.  Since I've inadvertently invested two units into this game, I'll talk about it a little more extensively.

This is a tale of two juggernaut offenses that can't stop anyone on defense.  Most people thought the Rams defense would be good, if not elite.  It's not.  The Seahawks have put up 30+ on them twice.  The fledgling Packers were able to score 27 on them.  The Saints did them up for 45 two weeks ago.  They can't stop a nosebleed, let alone the best offense in football.  The Chiefs' defense has similar issues, but they're getting healthier.  More importantly, the Rams suffered a devastating injury when Cooper Kupp went down with a torn ACL.  Cory talked at length about how much the Rams use three receiver sets with Cupp, Brandin Cooks, and Robert Woods on this week's show.  Losing the best receiver on the team completely changes that dynamic.  While I still contend that Sean McVay can make adjustments with the best of them, that doesn't change the fact that their offense will be diminished in the short-term, and in a likely shootout against the Chiefs, you can't afford to be operating at less than full capacity.  The Chiefs win this one in a a gong show.

Week 10 Results: 3-1-1 (+2.1 units)

Overall: 30-14-2 (+18.4 units)
