Happy Football Season! Week 1 Winners

It's finally here!  Football is back.  Thursday's game was a snore, but I think we're all excited for Sunday's slate of games.  As you may know, I went with the Bears to cover the spread the other day, and they, well, didn't.  So we're starting 0-1 this year, but that's okay.  I started slowly last year and ended up doing quite well.  Let's hope for a quick turnaround this year.  Here are your winners for Week 1.

Baltimore (-7) @ Miami

The Ravens have playoff aspirations once again this year, while Miami is heading into the fish tank.  Baltimore is laying 7 despite being the road team, but I still think that isn't enough.  The Dolphins have zero offensive line, no defense, no nothing.  The Ravens are going to stomp them out.  Lay the points.

The Pick: Ravens -7 over Dolphins

Atlanta (+4) @ Minnesota

I expect both of these teams to be much improved this year, but I'm still not sold on Atlanta as a road team.  The Falcons have a flashier offense, but Minnesota has a more complete team and something to prove after a disappointing 2018.  I'm taking the Vikings to cover this four point line at home.

The Pick: Vikings -4 over Falcons

Indianapolis (+6.5) @ Los Angeles Chargers

The Colts are trying to pick up the pieces after Andrew Luck's surprise retirement, but I don't think they're going to make it happen in just two weeks.  The Chargers boast one of the most talented teams in the NFL and should be able to handle the Jacoby Brisset-led Colts at home.  The spread is a bit steep, but it stayed below a touchdown, which was good enough for me.  Bolts take this one by double digits.

The Pick: Chargers -6.5 over Colts

Denver (-2) @ Oakland

I woke up feeling dangerous (h/t to Baker), so I decided to walk down this plank.  The Raiders are all the rage right now because of the Antonio Brown saga.  As a result, this line has moved three whole points and now has the Raiders as home dogs.  I'm going to go crazy and see this as an opportunity.  I'm taking the Raiders to pull the upset and begin the "who needs AB?" era in Oakland.

The Pick: Raiders +2 over Broncos

2019 Season Record: 0-1 (-1 units)
