Aces Only Association, Week 15 Afterword

We’re three quarters of the way through our inaugural season of the AOA so it’s time for another blog post! I haven’t been publishing weekly posts recently and, honestly, because of the length and sheer number of baseball games in this fantasy sport, going forward for this and future seasons, blog posts will probably be on a quarterly basis rather than every week like I do for fantasy football.

Anyway, without further ado let’s get into things.

The last three weeks have been pretty low-scoring for us on the whole but that doesn’t mean we haven’t seen some outstanding team performances.

Just this week, Eric Meyer and Alex Mayo set the 5th and 7th highest scores of the season after Sam set the No. 2 mark back in Week 12.

Meanwhile, Cory Puffett recorded the second lowest winning score this week with a 99.25-90.00 victory over Sean Kennedy, and five of our ten lowest scores of the season have been recorded in the past two weeks.

Sean and Cory Frontin have been neglecting their lineups recently. In Week 14, Cory had just 120 plate appearances, the fewest in a single week of any team all season. This week, his team totaled 144 and Sean’s had 157, which are the second and third fewest of the year.

Back in Week 12, Evan Ash became the first, and so far only, manager to go an entire week without a single home run in his lineup. Meanwhile, Sean has the three worst weeks in terms of RBIs on the year, with just 11 back in Week 9, 12 this past week, and 14 in Week 14.

Not everything has been terrible offensively, though. Back in Week 12, Eric’s team recorded 62 RBIs, the only week above 50 we’ve seen so far this year. And just this week, Alex’s team put up a .350 batting average (No. 2 on the year) and a league-record 1.032 OPS.

On the pitching front, Cory Puffett now owns the league records for the best and worst single-week team ERA. He set the mark to beat with a 1.27 ERA back in Week 6, but then his guys posted an abysmal 8.59 ERA this past week.

Evan and Sam Martin remain the only managers to score 100 points in every game this season after Cory fell below that mark for the first time this week. Meanwhile, Cory Frontin and Sean are both on two-game streaks without triple digits, equaling Sean’s mark from the second and third weeks of this season.

Entering the final quarter of the season, Eric and Cory Puffett are tied for the most Rickey Henderson Awards, given each week to the highest scorer. They each have six after Eric lead the league this week.

Cory remains the league leader in Manny Ramirez Awards, given each week to the winner of the game of the week. Evan won his third this week, tying him for second most with Sam.

Since I’m not doing these weekly going forward and our league members have access to our weekly recaps on our Google Drive, I’ll leave everyone with our Week 15 power rankings and our current playoff picture, provided by playoffcomputer.com.
