A Football Life 2020 Season – Week 3 Afterword

Luck always seems to play a factor in fantasy football. While I won’t go so far as to say it didn’t play a factor at all this week, for just the sixth time in AFL history our top six scorers all won their matchups!   Still, luck certainly played into things in other ways, as it always does.   A grand total of 10 would-be top-5 positional scorers were left on various managers’ benches. Evan Ash left a top-5 quarterback performance on his bench and also saw Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings go off for 27 points, the second highest point total in the AFL among wide receivers whether they were in a starting lineup or not rostered at all!   The tight end position was particularly volatile in Week 3. Only two tight ends reached the 15-point plateau and both are available on waivers entering Wednesday morning. In fact, only one of the top seven tight end scorers in Week 3 is currently on a roster; Eric Ebron scored 13.7 points on Will Massimini’s bench.   Of the 10 ...

Cory’s Week 3 DFS Picks – 2020 Edition

I had a rough Week 2 on FanDuel. My lineups had strong starts in the first half of the 1pm games, but I gradually fell further and further back until only one of my entries finished in the money.   Thankfully I’m not out here breaking the bank with my entry fees. But still, my pride was hurt a bit.   I had some ancillary starts to go with my value picks – Calvin Ridley and David Montgomery were key pieces in my one winning lineup and my starting QB there was Matt Ryan instead of my value QB.   I did hit on a couple of suggestions last week. Jonathan Taylor was the sixth best running back by value on FanDuel, earning 3.1x his $5.8k salary, and Diontae Johnson was the sixth best wide receiver by value, earning 3.31x his $5.8k salary. The problem with Taylor is that he was owned by more than 80-percent of players in most cash games. His ownership wasn’t as high in tournaments, but it was still too high to be particularly advantageous. Johnson was by far my best advice as a c...

Eric's Week 3 Winners

A slight improvement from the disaster that was Week 1, but still a big net loser for me in Week 2.  2020 is trash, man.  Let's turn the tide this week.  Here's what I have for Week 3.  Pray for my wallet. Games : Texans (+4) @ Steelers I'm not sure what the betting public is seeing in Houston, but I'm happy to try to take advantage of their state of inebriation.  The Texans suck hard.  They have no defense and their offense is a one-man show.  The Steelers are going to swallow DeShaun Watson, and I don't see the Houston defense presenting many problems for Big Ben and company.  I'll lay the four points on the yinzers. The Pick: Steelers -4 over Texans Rams +2 @ Bills If you listen to our podcast, you know I'm all over the Rams in this one.  The Bills have gotten some press for starting 2-0, but Los Angeles has done the same against better competition, yet they still seem to be flying under the radar.  I'm going to go a step further and ...

NFL Week 3 Picks

This week’s podcast was recorded Wednesday night. You can listen to our show on Apple Podcasts , Spotify , Google Podcasts , and now Amazon Podcasts , too! Eric came very close to a perfect week, but he missed out on nine points in the Monday night tilt between New Orleans and Las Vegas. Cory was the lone wolf in correctly predicting the Raiders would christen their new home with a win.   Overall it was a strong week for all three of our hosts as everyone got at least 13 games right and well north of 100 points. Cory led our competition with just 93 after Week 1.   As it stands, Eric has taken a healthy 3-game lead in our picks pool and has a 5-point advantage over Cory in confidence points. The two are tied with three correct lone wolf picks, though Eric has capitalized on all three of his opportunities where Cory has wolfed it six times.    We have three takers in our invitation to compete against us this season, but we’re still open for late entries. It will be di...
